2024 END OF YEAR REPORT

2024: A Year in Review

HEY SIS! LET’S TALK…

Black women in the United States face a disproportionate burden of HIV. They account for the highest number of new HIV diagnoses among women, with significantly higher rates compared to White and Latina women. To combat this, AOC launched the 'Hey Sis' Campaign during Women’s History Month. 'Hey Sis' is an open dialogue series designed to address crucial topics like sexual and reproductive health, life choices, reproductive health, mental well-being, and more. Learn more…

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Last year, AOC was a constant presence in our community, actively engaging residents and promoting HIV testing. From vibrant health fairs, testing events and pop-up mobile testing, our dedicated team tirelessly spread awareness about HIV prevention and the importance of regular testing. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with hundreds of community members taking advantage of on-site testing and accessing valuable resources. This success demonstrates the crucial role community outreach plays in combating the spread of HIV and ensuring access to vital healthcare services for all.

INTRODUCING…

The Paul N. Geisel Dental Clinic!

In a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of the esteemed Dr. Paul N. Geisel, the AOC dental clinic has been renamed the Paul N. Geisel Dental Clinic. This renaming honors Dr. Geisel's decades of dedicated service to the community, his pioneering work in Public Affairs, and his unwavering commitment to providing resources to the community.

SHARING THE GOOD

AOC is proud to partner with the community to make a positive impact. We hosted our annual Buzz Back to School Health Fair. This event provided essential resources to young learners, such as backpacks and school supplies,  access to food, dental cleanings, and vaccinations. We also provide backpacks to local schools throughout the year and actively volunteer our time to support their educational missions. This initiative reflects our dedication to supporting the well-being of our community beyond HIV/AIDS prevention and care.
